First Statue Honoring Women in the Military Unveiled for Veteran's Day

Just in time for Veteran's Day, the first-ever statue depicting a woman soldier was unveiled in Fort Lee, Virginia. It’s the first statue commissioned and placed on a military base that features a woman soldier. The move is long overdue, given that women have for years been soldiering alongside men, taking the same risks but receiving little of the recognition for their sacrifices and contributions in the military. Hopefully this kind of recognition will become more commonplace.
