Exciting News: Progress Towards a Malaria Vaccine

Great news from the disease prevention front: researchers are making fast progress towards a vaccine for malaria, a disease which affects more than 200 million people each year and killed somewhere between 700,000 and 1.2 million people in 2010, according to the World Health Organization.

Preliminary study results show that an experimental vaccine against the disease, which is spread by mosquito bites, offered "strong protection" against malaria.
