Don't Visit Your Parents? That is Now Against the Law in China

The Chinese legislature has a new mandate for China's youth: visit your parents. Seen as a way to curtail a decline in the traditional extended family, the new law requires young Chinese to ensure the "financial and spiritual needs" of their parents if they are over 60 years of age. The law also empowers aging parents with the right to sue their child if they fail to meet their obligations. Many are complaining the law unfairly punishes those who leave home in search of work or can't make time.
