Interesting how the US pays more per student than any other developed nation, but teachers make less relatively. Part of this is that our country has lots of opportunities for college graduates to make more money doing things other than teaching, but I wonder how we compare to these other nations in the percentage of education spending that goes to teacher pay. Moving beyond income, I would be interested to see what quality of life teachers have in various countries, and where teachers have the highest quality of life. Also, interested in what is the difference between income and cost of living by country and within the US?
