    super interesting. and valuable. from the perspective of an employer, I don't think cheating is the right word. that implies that this is bad. it's awesome if people have side projects. and if those side projects eventually yield excitement and revenue beyond what full time work offers, than hell yea, on to the next adventure. I think there is a culture that to be a good boss you should be mad if such activity is afoot but i think that creates a crappy vibe, doesn't effect the outcome, and impedes on what should be sweet team play. We've had a lot of people work at GOOD HQ for a time, develop skills and relationships, and then go on to start their own efforts. That's awesome. Simultaneously, we're busting ass to support the GOOD community so we need great people and losing great people is tough. That's why it's super important to make the full time gigs valuable both from the standpoint of salary and equity, as well as from the standpoint of empowerment and learning opportunity. And I think it's also the reason why it's valuable to have transparent dynamics between managers and reports about side projects, interests, and future paths. We've got a long way to go before we handle this in a totally optimal way, but I think it's something we've learned a lot about (from both mistakes and successes) and it is certainly super important.
