    Wow. It's great to read something from a high schooler's perspective-- someone who is actually faced with these challenges. Thanks for sharing! Do you know if there is anything being done to change university's policies?

      I don't know of anything being done at the college level in terms of policy. The issue really begins in the secondary schools, many of which lack computers, libraries, and even heat! Mtuseni attended a farm school and is naturally bright and driven, but his level of education pales compared to his US peers and likely his white South African peers. Once I get him through college (he just began his senior year!) then I hope to focus my efforts on addressing these issues on a larger scale. The young people I saw in South Africa are so hungry for knowledge and a path out of poverty.
