Bloomberg to NYC: Compost or Else

NYC may soon join cities like San Francisco and Seattle that require residents to recycle food scraps through ambitious municipal composting facilities. This could be Bloomberg's final quality of life mission (after the soda tax, smoking policies, and bike boosterism) while he finishes out his term. Also worth noting: this program, to start, would only process 100,000 tons of scraps annually, a mere 10 percent of the food waste generated in that city. Still plenty of potential there.
