American Public Schools Educating a Record 1,168,354 Homeless Children

New data from the U.S. Department of Education reveals that over 1.1 million children in the United States are now homeless. The numbers, which are conservative estimates, are up 72 percent since before the recession. "Advocates for children and the homeless urged the federal government to take new steps to better protect homeless children and families."
