There's so much going on around us every day- no one can keep track of it all- it's the rich fabric of existence. However, we can be like shoppers in a grocery and keep our eyes out for the things we want to pick up off the shelves that resonate with our intellectual grocery list.

I love unexpected great conversations like that. Thanks for sharing. I wish people would be more open-minded and not so afraid of having a conversation with a complete stranger. It is a much better way to spend time in a line-up etc than having your nose in your smart phone.

Thanks! After this experience, I realized how self-centered I could be. I bury my face in my phone during my daily commutes -- It's euphemism for "go away." I'm learning!

I have found the most incredible conversations happened when I am by myself at a place or event. That little bit of singularity makes we want to reach out to another. It's made me strike out on my own more and seek out others. As you found you never know what you will discover!

    • Gina Kim

Yeah! I just took a break from reading about openness and read this comment. I like that you said "seek out others."

conversations are the best inspirations. And have you noticed what a weird state society is in, regarding conversations? on the one hand, it's all about a communication revolution, social networks breaking access barriers and platforms for conversations.. but on the other hand, that is exactly what makes people retreat physically into their own private spaces, interacting less face to face with people, rather with devices that have people somewhere beyond - people face their phones, their laptops and tablets, having edited and controlled conversations...

    • Gina Kim

Totally agree. Society emphasizes so much on increasing communication yet tools like social media has desensitized us from having meaningful conversations. I remember in my facing history class in high school, my teacher said how as a nation we have changed so much because there is so much diversity... even in one subway ride! However as much as there are so many races, cultures, everybody is plugged into their own worlds and you hardly see people talking to each other. We've progressed yet regressed.

      btw, nice clip.

GOOD stuff Gina! Some of the conversations that have resonated so strongly with me happened in the most pleasantly surprising instances. There is wisdom in the most unexpected people and places - and there's a whole lot of crap. We just have to be open to it all, and sift through until we find that goodness that enriches us.

Wouldn't the world be a happier place if everybody were receptive?
