Afghan Female Rapper Rallies for Women's Rights

"Paradise" is one of the first female rappers in Afghanistan and is determined to expose discrimination against women through music. With her fiancé, she formed rap group 143Band in 2008 and has been using music to fight for women's rights and safety. Rap as a form of social activism is not entirely new to the region, but Paradise has experienced backlash and disapproval on the street. "Being a female singer some people accept, some reject. It is risky, but I love taking risks." she said.
