A Watch You Don't Have to Watch, Inspired by the Blind

Inspired by Bradley Snyder, who was blinded as a soldier in Afghanistan and then went on to win a gold medal at the 2012 Paralympics, this timepiece helps blind people tell time through touch. Brilliantly, though, the innovation here is useful for anyone: you can check time discreetly in a meeting, or in the dark. Ball bearings move to show the time. The project's already raised over $450,000 on Kickstarter, despite the fact that the designers couldn't get any interest from VCs.
