So I never tell people about this (she says, as she types on a public site) but I have a mystery series I'm working on. It's really just for me because of that thing where "creative people need multiple outlets" but at some point it ended up being really relevant to the child immigrant issue that's become such a hotbutton... so I don't know, if I get to a point where I'm happy with a manuscript and that is still in the forefront of public awareness, maybe I'll do something public with the series. I really believe in the potential of fiction to build empathy in the real world, so I'd feel silly writing hundreds of thousands of words and NOT trying to use it that way, but at the same time I've never really intended the project for anyone but myself.
I think writing stimulates creativity, and is often a first step toward action. I started a blog recently (I'm not going to share the link, since I don't want to make this about self-promotion). I find this a really good way to express my ideas, and to make myself accountable to taking some regular action. Today I made a post about doing urban fitness, something I've just tried recently with a friend :-)
