Take a moment to write a thank you note to a familiar stranger who brightens up your life:
the especially-helpful train conductor
the newspaper salesman with a smile for everyone
the warm duo in the food truck
the gym attendant who makes us all feel like a million bucks.

These constant figures are like little rest stops for the soul in the daily marathon of city life. Let's thank them for their exuberance and brightness.

    I'm into calligraphy, and one of my favorite things, period, is surprising people with a handwritten thank-you note in dip-pen calligraphy. I love the idea of surprising a familiar stranger! I've done it without really thinking about it, but will do it more often now.

        I usually just Instagram my doodles if I post them anywhere, but maybe I'll post an "improve your penmanship with calligraphy practice" DO when I have a few practice pieces worked up to share as a slideshow! I'll make sure to let you know when I do.
