Wear the Messages of Change instead of the General Messages of a Brand

Antionette Carroll

Where
Anywhere and Everywhere

Consumers spend over $250 billion a year on fashion. How many of these items feature a brand’s logo instead of a message of change? We are walking billboards, and the biggest advocates of a message. Not only are we supporting brands beyond a purchase, while pressing issues struggle for awareness, but we are widely unaware that we continually provide brand endorsements just by wearing a t-shirt.

I propose that we as consumers start being more aware of the messages, and brands, we promote on a shirt, tote, hat, etc. Great sites such as FEED (http://www.feedprojects.com/), HELP INK (http://helpink.org/) and the future launching 365NOW APPAREL (http://designigniteschange.org/projects/969-365now-apparel-the-brand-of-change) are great starting places to not only get great gear, but have some of the proceeds go to charitable causes. Please list other retail/social enterprises below in which we can purchase fashion that raises awareness of causes.
