Do It

Take a daily walk and bring a bag for garbage

Korey Johnson

Planet Earth

You can improve your health, happiness and the state of the environment by taking a daily walk. Take a bag with you and pick up trash items as you go. Just imagine if half of the people on this planet took up this practice. That's why if you decide to do this remember that friends and good company will make your walk even better!

I have been walking to work for a couple of years now, and I routinely find a couple of bottles/trash items laying on the sidewalk. It helps that there are Recycle/Trash bins on the way home, and I can drop off items "in stages"!

We would clean out a creek by the elementary school once a week. This post is a great reminder to do get going on this again when the school year starts--would have forgotten in the busy-ness of a new year. Thanks!

I think what you are doing is awesome...leading by example!

Thanks, John! It is so much part of our routine, now, that I get in trouble if I ask to postpone it to get laundry done or go to the store. :) They keep me in check!

So cool. Pennies of Time, I'd love to know more about the little things you've been doing to do GOOD, since your profile says you do something daily!

Alessandra--we do all kinds of things from care packages (today's service act) to making busy books for the hospital to cleaning gravesites for elderly patrons visiting loved ones . . . one of my son's favorites is when we deliver flowers to our neighbors . . . our other son loves anything as long as we wear funny mustaches and, maybe, get to be secret ninjas while doing it. I write out some of the things we do at the blog
