Swap Books with Someone

Brooke Feldman

Where
Anywhere

I love reading. I would love to find out what other people are reading too. I always try to read at least two books of each month (depending on how busy I get).

Anybody want to swap books with me?

Inappropriate?

Last November's Typhoon Haiyan had friends and family (we live in the part of the Philippines that wasnt affected) putting resources into relief/aid, rather than spending time and money shopping for presents. My friends and I decided to do a book swap instead of exchanging presents.

Brooke, there's a website for this! It's called Bookcrossing and it's the largest, most active network of its kind - great community and awesome books to be had. You can go find them on the street - literally, people leave them out to be discovered or trade them through the mail!

Looks like another interesting idea. And you can combine it with the free library idea mentioned below.

I was wondering how I'd swap books all the way from India but then I read Kristin's comment who did a swap with someone in Ethiopia! So I'm in too. All the way from India.

    Someone should build a website.

Swap more than just books. Products we don't use anymore. It's a great idea to reduce human consumption.

I knew there would already be a website for something like this. Everytime you come up with a great idea there's already someone doing it!

I signed up for yerdle but I don't think it ships internationally. Will have to find out.

Thanks for wanting to join! I think this would be great to send you books and such. Maybe we should create a Facebook group?

Oooh Facebook! I quit it a year ago. Can we do a facebook group somehow connected to a g+ community? Or both? We definitely need a place to communicate and brainstorm the idea further. Meanwhile feel free to email me at eddy(dot)217(at the rate)gmail(dot)com.

I am IN! Just did this across the planet with a friend in Ethiopia. She's a psychologist with Doctors Without Borders and was in need of reading material. She posted a call on Facebook and a bunch of us joined it. She inspired us to then Swap with other friends too. Fun to receive a package in the mail and fun to share books with each other all over the globe! Let's do it. A Great way to share.

I would totally book swap! I just pared down my collection when moving from Denver to LA and it's ALREADY growing again... it's kind of like my own personal mold colony, somehow no matter what I do the number of books in my home increases steadily ;)

I can give you my email address so we can coordinate if you like!

      • Jelena Woehr

I'll send you a message! The nice thing about working here is I can find yours :)
