Send love to Colombia. Today miners, farmers, coffee growers, displaced persons, human rights defenders and fellow supporters are filling streets all around the country today in protest of national investment in multinational business, rather than investment the broader Colombian workforce. In short — economic sovereignty.

The military and police have already demonstrated a heavy handed approach to squashing the protest. My partner is an international human rights observer and has been accompanying the process on-the-ground since late last week. He called at 1:30 this morning reporting tear gas and shots fired.

For constantly updating, on-the-ground information follow #19A, Alianza de Medios y Periodistas por la Paz (@mediosxlapaz), Agencia Prensa Rural (@PrensaRural), Christian Peacemaker Teams - Colombia (@cptco) & Cahucopana (@CAHUCOPANA) on Twitter.
