support educational needs of youth in foster care

Youth in foster care often have multiple placements which can cause them to get behind in school. Without this additional academic support, youth in care are likely to dropout of school. In fact, they have the highest dropout rate among all student groups. Poor education increases their chances of experiencing the following outcomes after aging out of the foster care system: homelessness, incarceration, early and multiple pregnancies, and mental health crises.
