Have you asked someone lately, if they know of a family caregiver? Would they call out a family member or friend or even themselves as one? Or would they say that's a paid professional.
There are about 60 million Americans performing family caregiving support to a loved one. Most of the time, feelings of loneliness and isolation present itself.
Caregiving is nothing new, but as a group, we haven't really embraced the role publicly and socially. There's sometimes shame or embarrassment associated with it. Well, it's time to raise our hands and show our faces. It is time to look around and know that we are not alone.
Help us generate public awareness that in order to empower family caregivers, we need to embrace the role without feeling alone, shame, or social stigma.
