- Your home town
At this time of year, many people are suffering the insanity of extreme consumerism and shopping for gifts that will be forgotten within the year. Instead, look for needs that exist within your circle of influence. Know someone who could use a box of tea because it's cold outside? Go get some. Know someone who is housebound but can't afford a little entertainment? Know a family that is struggling to have quality food? You don't have to go to the homeless mission. Sometimes, the people that are truly alone and sad are the working poor or the senior citizen on a fixed income. A simple "gift" for these people will lift you out of the madness of what passes for the Christmas season in North America.
