"/....engaged to these aerials and varials"
If you don't skateboard, the line above probably doesn't mean much to you. Or, you may recognize that it's also a line from the Lupe Fiasco song referenced in the title of this post. But this post doesn't have anything to do with Lupe, or music for that matter.
It has to do with kids. It has to do with skating. It has to do with Ethiopia.
Yea, apparently kids in Ethiopia like to skateboard. Who woulda known?
Meet 16 year old Abenezer Temesegen, skateboarding fanatic. Born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He taught a few dozen kids around town how to skateboard...and they loved it. So, he started a project to raise funds to build the first skate park in my hometown of Addis Ababa. Simple.
It keeps these kids out of trouble, empowers them and builds their self-confidence. It encourages individualism while still fostering and developing a strong sense of community.
I love this project. As Abenezer says, "we just want to skate".
