Join Your Local CSA & Get Farm Fresh Food

Jackie Ramirez

"When you join a CSA [Community Supported Agriculture], there's always a bounty of fresh and local veggies awaiting your enjoyment. CSAs are a guaranteed way to bring more veggies into your family's diet, but they are much more than that. CSAs keep money in the local economy, help farmers share the gamble they take while working with Mother Nature, and are a way that you can enjoy the freshest, most seasonal produce around."

I am the "distributor" for our office. I pick up four shares and deliver to our work place. I promoted the idea and since it is easier for folks then they are more willing. Supports our local CSA by adding shares, saves on gas emissions, and promotes better eating among co-workers. It's very "GOOD" :)

CitySprout in ATX is an online marketplace connecting communities to their local food producers. Farms/Foodmakers selling through the platform gain access to a huge pool of people who've subscribed, weekly sales consistency, and delivery efficiency. Customers have access to a "CSA" without the upfront costs or ongoing subscriptions, i.e. they can pick what they want, when they want it and aren't tied to a "weekly surprise box". Plus the food is delivered by the farm/foodmaker themselves empowering farms to build their own distribution and increasing food transparency and security.

I share a small box weekly with a coworker and it works perfectly to incorporate more organic fruits and veggies into our diet. Thanks for the post!

We were thinking about doing something similar with Good Eggs for GOOD. What do you think is the best way to make sure that people get what they want and need?

What a great idea. I even forget that you can do that for work. The produce is more likely to get used up among all staff throughout the week. I am now thinking of bringing a blender to the office to make some smoothies in between meals. Thanks Melimeli. Is this Melissa V btw?

        yes its me :)
