What is so great about paper again? Why do we need it? Shouldn't we be happy to see this inefficient and environmentally destructive communication medium slip into extinction?

I can't use my iPod from seven years ago, but I have books that are seventy years old. I'm also really attached to the physical presence books play in my life. They are there for me when I get home, or sometimes they spend time with a friend, and sometimes they come back home. And it'll be that way for while, in large part because it's that's the only thing they're designed to do: communicate what's printed on them, to anyone who can read the language, for about a hundred years if well cared for.

Plus books smell better than computer screens.

It's sometimes nice to feel the world.
