Indulge in a Donut (or Two) on National Donut Day

You're probably thinking about how there's an invented food holiday every day (Pigs In a Blanket Day, anyone?), but National Donut Day has legitimate, feel-good roots. The Salvation Army distributed donuts to American soldiers during the first World War and declared the first Friday of the month "National Doughnut Day" way back in 1938. So there's history. And those fried dough pastries are delicious. Pass me a jelly donut, please.
