Intensified use of Community Assets
The hypothesis is that students having access to the resources and the knowledge to grow more of their own food, a good number of sustainability and regeneration issues are directly addressed.
• Eliminate the barriers to community groups having access to school grounds and building resources.
• Assess each school for available resources such as land, sun exposure, water, power etc.
• Identify available local resources to that school to support the program.
• Request your local Board of Education to gain approval to submit proposal
The long term vision (long term) is to build organic food gardens, compost facilities, green houses and market facilities at schools. This will be achieved by integrating a rich body of food growing knowledge into school curricula. Food growing can be linked to many learning streams, Math, art, design, business, biology, geography, nutrition, cooking, preserving etc..the list is large
