An estimated 200,000 Bangladeshi children have been trafficked for sexual exploitation through the borders of India's West Bengal and Assam States. Many of them were sold by their loved ones. Ayesha, who was sold at age 13 by a man who pretended to be her boyfriend, was sexually battered, and as a result, had three children. Apne Aap helped rescue Ayesha and her children and provide them with alternatives to support themselves financially. Understanding the human rights of women who have been and are still caught in this cycle of forced prostitution is a basic step needed to change India's laws for the better.
