help raise funds for 'god, grant me' (a film about personal growth through a "good" community)

Jesse McGinness

Lawrence, KS

'god, grant me' is about Lea and Silus, two young adults facing struggles, that are at face value very different, but parallel each other when stripped down. Lea has a hap-hazard addiction to pills who idealizes romance and recently was broken up with under the guise of that addiction and Silus is a colon cancer survivor recently in remission that can't shake the apathy that comes along with being sick from a young age.

They meet serendipitously when Lea tries to go to Narcotics Anonymous in an attempt to get Adam, her ex-boyfriend, back. She, like many addicts, gets high before the meeting and because of that, accidentally walks into a Cancer Support Group because she hears the Serenity Prayer. She is thrown into the conversation of the group without the chance to correct her mistake and she lies saying she has Cancer. Silus, who is in that meeting, calls her out after they are let out.

Support this film's creation with a Kickstarter that embodies the film's community message!
