I'm writing in to see if your organization and/or projects are interested in receiving WikiReaders for kids to learn with. We're looking to partner with project sites that are focused on education in areas where there is no or limited internet access.
In case you don't know what a WikiReader is, it's a pocket-sized mobile device with a touchscreen and a removable 8GB micro-SD memory card. It comes pre-loaded with a text-only version of Wikipedia. It requires no internet, is available in several languages, and can be updated by loading new content onto it's memory card.
Unfortunately WikiReaders were marketed to the wrong audience, the developed world that already has easy access to Wikipedia anytime, anywhere. WikiReaders are now just sitting in a warehouse, a commercial flop.
They just dropped in price – we want to buy ALL of them and give them to kids in remote areas to learn with.
