Go for an Adventure

David Zimmerman

Sometimes you just need to drop everything and go for an adventure. Once you get into the daily routine of eat, sleep, work, work out, sleep, repeat, it can be difficult to remember how to get away.

We are social beings, so meeting and interacting with new people is part of our nature. Sometimes a little spontaneity can go a long way, and can help.

Find someone to go skydiving with, do the marathon you've been talking about, or cook up a feast for your friends over an open fire in the middle of nowhere!

I decided to take my bike and go on solo rides through the neighborhoods of my city just to get a different perspective than driving. Oh the things you see, the noises you hear, the pot holes and curbs you avoid and the people you meet. Self-empowering and community building.

Completed my first triathlon of the season today and I must say that the swim in the Bonelli Park Lake was definitely an adventure. Not a big fan of seaweed but I got plenty of loving from it ... yuck ... but overall I felt alive and adventurous ;)

This is a great idea. I did it this summer when I finally went to Griffis Sculpture Park, which happens to only an hour away from me. I talked about going there for years and I finally got to enjoy the beautiful space.

I've been on a couple mini adventures actually. Recently I picked up boxing at a local gym down the street. Trying something new always feels like an adventure. I don't know if you saw the full moon a couple nights ago, but it was big, bright, and orange! So I decided to go for a moonlit surf session from 1am-3am. Partially inspired by the corny yet entertaining 'Chasing Mavericks' film!

I just checked out Alastair's blog, and think it's great. I'm definitely interested in connecting with him. david [at] atthepool [dot] com. Thanks Alessandra! What kind of adventures have you been on recently? If you want to go skydiving, our CEO is jumping on Sunday with a couple people. I'd be happy to get you in touch.

P.S. I might be going to Palm Springs soon or Joshua Tree OR Santa Barbara! I wish I had planned it for this weekend!

Woah just saw this! Did you go skydiving? I'll connect you with Alastair!

I definitely need this in my life. I was thinking the other day about how I get in such a routine, that I forget to connect with my loved ones on a fun level- outside my apt. It makes things pretty mundane. I could see skydiving as a way to break that up and make life feel exciting again. What adventures have you gone on recently? Also- do you know about Alastair Humphrey's microadventures? You should connect with him. Let me know if you're interested!
