Knoxville local Noah Frere knows pianos, and he cares so much about making every moment meaningful that he is learning how to rebuild instruments in an eco-friendly way. After rebuilding the first piano responsibly, his project will yield a report on the current state of pianos as it relates to the environment.

This Project is not just about a single piano. It is about changing the attitude in our society that old pianos are junk. Old pianos are not junk. They are amazing pieces of technology capable of producing some of the most spectacular music. They are antiques and family heirlooms. They are stories and treasures.

On top of helping Noah make a difference, contributors can get great perks like a hand-crafted necklace made from one of the recycled piano hammers.
