Do It

Give Your Hats Away

Allie Vaughan

Have My Hat is a simple movement to inspire selflessness and good-doing during the cold winter months.

The concept is quite simple: knit a hat, wear your hat, and when you encounter someone who is in need of a warm hat, give yours away! Repeat the process until the whole world is nice and toasty with new, homemade hats.

PS - if you cannot knit, pick up a loom at a nearby craft store. Looms = knitting made SUPER easy.

I love this Allie! Did you start it? It reminds me of the Lonely Glove Love project-- they find lonely gloves and repurpose them by matching them with another pair. I don't knit- so I'd love to give a hat away- but I don't have anything homemade. Would you consider recycling hats? Here's the Glove Love project in case you're interested:

      Alessandra -

Thanks so much for the awesome feedback! I did start this, and I'm definitely interested in the Lonely Glove Love project. Sounds like a great concept!

As for recycling hats, you could really decide to do this all on your own. Just wear a hat around, and if you see someone in need, go ahead and give them yours! However, if you're interested in learning something new, go pick up a knitting tool called a makes knitting a hat SO simple. I'm glad you're interested, though.
