I always find it ironic when the phrases, 'that's gross/why would you eat/do that/I don't like it', or any variation of these for that matter, is followed by, 'well, no, I've never actually done/had it though'. Yes, I do understand that Pâté might sound a lot more desirable until you find out it's duck liver and sure, going for a hike probably doesn't sound too scary until someone clarifies that it's up The Chief in Squamish BC, but the key message here is don't knock it until you've tried it! It's so much easier to stick to what you know. We like routine for a reason. Not only does it help us keep track of our lives and from losing our sanity at times, but it gives us a safety net of predictability to work within. But you know that saying “if you never try you’ll never know”? I think there’s a lot to be said about that. And while pushing our limits and exploring the world around might not have us jumping for joy 100% of the time, I can promise that the other 99% will make it worth it.
