Day 23: Don't Be Embarrassed By What You Can't Do/What You Aren't

torizenko

When
March 23, 2013

Even though we all have our fair share of phenomenal qualities and skills, it's easy to slip into the mentality of 'if only'. If only I were smarter, nicer, funnier, prettier. The list goes on. And when it comes to criticism, no matter how constructive it is meant to be, a lot of the time taking it well does not come naturally. We quickly forgot that, although someone is only momentarily focusing on one of our minute flaws, rarely are those the qualities that they notice on a daily basis. It's hard though. When we try our best only to have someone tell us that we could have done better, obviously we're going to feel discouraged. The trick, though, is to remember that people often give us criticism with best intentions in mind, not to bring us down. Sometimes it takes a friend or coworker pointing out our mistakes in order for us to reach our full potential. So the next time someone points out one of your insecurities, take it with a grain of salt and use it to grow. Happy Weekend!
