We've all been talking to someone before while they text on their phone, look anywhere except at us, and nod their head at all of the right times while frequenting the conversation with the deftly placed 'yeah... no... you're right" when, in reality, their brain is everywhere else but the conversation. It sucks, especially because most of us, presumably, don't talk just to hear our own voices – the first time we do hear them over voicemail is usually enough to turn us off of that for good! So the next time someone is talking to you, don’t just feign interest but genuinely try to listen. Make eye contact and notice how the more excited they get the more animated they come. Sometimes you’ll even be surprised by all of the useful, interesting, and fun tidbits that you can pick up from people’s conversations that can, hopefully, only make your latest encounter more meaningful and memorable.
