I saw a man, once, on the side of the road. He was holding a sign that said, "Homeless. Please help." I didn't have any cash on me. So I drove by and tried not to make eye-contact. But I did look at him. And I saw the hurt in his eyes and the frown on his face as I refused to even acknowledge his existence.
So I made a travel-sized care kit to keep in my glove box! It's inexpensive, and fun to create with your kids or in groups. Next time you pass a homeless person looking for help, you'll have a healthy snack, a hygiene kit, and a memory of kindness -- just for them.

A tooth brush kit.
A granola bar.

The next time I passed someone on the street, I rolled down my window and we shared a smile as I touched his hand. The need for compassion is far greater than the need for bread.
